Who is Tumaini?
Meet the hearts behind Tumaini. A team united by faith, compassion, and a shared desire to uplift individuals and communities in Kenya, Africa, and beyond.
Tumaini.Africa is a grassroots non-profit based in Homa Bay, Kenya, led by Volgat and his wife Dorothy. Together with a dedicated team of friends and supporters, we are committed to bringing hope to vulnerable communities through education, climate action, and sustainable solutions.
We exist to bring hope — serving children, youth, families, and the marginalized with education, opportunity, and care.
At our heart, Tumaini means hope — and we believe that even the smallest seed of hope can transform lives and entire communities.

Belinda expresses her appreciation for the skills she gained from Tumaini
Belinda Akinyi, a deaf woman from Kirindo, shares how Tumaini and SHOFCO’s training programs transformed her life amid social discrimination and limited opportunities for the deaf community. Through training in agripreneurship and tree nursery management, she gained the skills to start her own farm with 300 chickens and a thriving tree nursery of indigenous and fruit trees. Today, Belinda earns an income, supports her family, and stands as a shining example of empowerment and inclusion made possible by accessible skills development.

Loving Our Neighbors
God says that loving our neighbors is the second greatest commandment after loving Him. We are compelled by His love to seek out solutions for struggling families and communities, and to implement and serve these solutions to them.
